Philanthropy on $1 a Day
GiVE 365 members become part of an exciting new way to give by pooling money in a charitable fund to make grants that improve the Memphis community.
GiVE 365 members choose a grantmaking theme each year and solicit proposals from area nonprofits to address the chosen theme. Through a group process, proposals are reviewed and grants are made for the selected projects.
This year members have chosen Fishing Lessons. Based on the saying, "Teach a man to fish, you feed him forever," the grant application asks: How will your organization provide opportunities for people to learn the skills they need to sustain themselves and support their families?
With 65 percent of members voting on the theme, Fishing Lessons took just shy of 40 percent of the vote.
